In late September, 11 Republican members of Congress wrote to the directors of national intelligence and the Department of Agriculture’s Office of Homeland Security to warn of the latest threat emerging in China. They said China seeks to become the world leader in production of meat alternatives — part of a “targeted attempt to dominate global food supply chains” that could pose an urgent threat to the food security of the United States and its allies.

Representative Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08), the House Democratic Leader, in partnership with NYS Office of General Services, celebrated the rededication of the Shirley A. Chisholm State Office Building and commemorated the 100th anniversary of the birth of the late Rep. Shirley Chisholm. 


In 2009, alongside State Senator Velmanette Montgomery, then-Assemblyman Jeffries led the passage of Assembly Bill A5365 to rename 55 Hanson Place after Rep. Chisholm, part of an effort to prevent it from being sold to developers.

"Yesterday, Israel and Lebanon agreed to a ceasefire deal mediated by the U.S. and France to end the fighting with Hezbollah. The ceasefire went into effect at 4 AM today local time.

Recently, in a letter sent to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), 11 members of Congress called for the postponement of its electronic identification (EID) eartag mandate on adult cattle shipped across state lines. The letter follows the New Civil Liberties Alliance on behalf of R-CALF USA, South Dakota Stockgrowers Association, Farm and Ranch Freedom Alliance, and area ranchers, filing suit against USDA’s rule and petitioning USDA to postpone the effective date of the rule.
