Congressional Taiwan Caucus leaders Reps. Ami Bera (D-Calif.) and Andy Barr (R-Ky.) are seeking colleagues to sign a letter calling on House and Senate leadership to advance pending Taiwan-related tax provisions by the end of the year.

Nov. 21
U.S. Senate Commerce Committee Ranking Member Ted Cruz (R-Texas) this week urged the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) to pause its unlawful Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) activities. NTIA’s renegade actions are saddling states with extraneous mandates that prevent unserved communities from gaining internet access. The letter comes in response to NTIA Administrator Alan Davidson’s recent admission that the Biden-Harris administration has spent $250 million in BEAD funding to hire government employees and contractors to administer a program that has yet to connect a single American to the internet.

North Carolina’s two Republican senators, and Thom Tillis, and Congressman Chuck Edwards (R-N.C.) led a bipartisan group of lawmakers from both chambers in a Nov. 15 letter to President Joe Biden requesting expedited supplemental funds for the relief efforts.

U.S. Representatives Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5), Gus Bilirakis (FL-12), Dan Goldman (NY-10), and Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) led a bipartisan letter signed by 39 Members of Congress to Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and ODNI Director Avril Haines, requesting a classified briefing on the threats to U.S. national security posed by Turkey’s growing relationship with Hamas. The letter is supported by the ADL (Anti-Defamation League), American Jewish Committee (AJC), American Hellenic Institute (AHI), Jewish Institute for National Security of America (JINSA), and FDD Action.

In a new letter to J. David Gladstone Institutes President Dr. Deepak Srivastava, the House Committee on Energy and Commerce (E&C) and House Committee on Education and the Workforce (E&W) have requested information about ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic harassment and intimidation at Gladstone and its leadership’s insufficient response to these acts.
The letter is signed by E&C Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), E&C Subcommittee on Health Chair Brett Guthrie (R-KY), E&C Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Chair Morgan Griffith (R-VA), E&W Chair Virginia Foxx (R-NC), and E&W Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Development Chair Burgess Owens (R-UT).

Two House Republicans are urging congressional leaders to omit expanded access to in vitro fertilization for troops and their families from a defense policy bill set to pass before the end of year.
Reps. Matt Rosendale, R-Mont., and Josh Brecheen, R-Okla., argue provisions providing extensive military health care coverage of IVF treatments are too costly and would lead to the “destruction of innocent human life.”
